Crysis 2 is out!
It's a great feeling to see a project I've been working on at Crytek to come out. I got to give kudos to art team for pulling of one of the most amazing graphics in computer gaming up to date and to their art director and friend of mine Magnus Larbrant for pushing the style into the new level of Crytek games.
Althou my contribution to the project was minor compared to all the hard work that have been put by the team since a year I left the studio, it is still a great relief and a moment of joy to see all the pieces coming together in the final product and to see how well it has been received by the critics so far:
Great reviews! And I hope for great sales for old friends at Crytek.
Back to the NDI kennel tho, for even more awesome stuff to come !

LA mountains
... continuing previous exercise with references. I think sometime soon I'll grow confident enough to drag my laptop outside and do some outdoor paintings finally.

Custom Shapes v2.0

One more exercise with custom shapes as previously, althou this time I tried to be more loose with shapes. Everything is basically painted with flat colors and shading is done via gradient tool only. I start to like this painting style alot and I wouldn't get away without mentioning how much of an influence I'm taking from latest Robh's and Neil Ross paintings!

Custom Shapes

Took a bit more time to practice painting with simple shapes and sharp-shaped brushes, custom selections and gradients. Unlike with previous exercise, this time I took a step into more triangular forms.Tuesday, March 01, 2011
Ranger tutorial
I've gotten quite many requests for video tutorial of how I work. Here it is. It's not one of most amazing sketches I've ever done, however it shows one of plenty techniques of speed painting creation. There are many other ways I work with my files, Ranger tutorial is just one of them.
Image took me about 3hrs, so decided to speed it up abit.
Here is the final image in half of it's original resolution.
