Rectangles, lines and gradients

Two sketches I painted experimenting only with rectangle/line, selection, gradient and simple round brush erasing tools.

Another weekend of sketching, this time Frazetta style. Lady, surprised what she saw walking by desert moutnain alcove.

Weekend brush mix

I've been working alot with my custom brush set recently, trying to utilize few settings here and there along with new patterns and what not. Apparently with results that weren't interesting enough to include them among existing brushes. And then I decided to take a step back instead and see what potential I could bring with stuff that is already there...

So here is the little scene I painted with my brushes, but this time trying to mix 3-4 different patterns and brush strokes, linking and overlaying different painted layers, etc. I'm pretty happy with results so far and more confident with each another brush stroke. Good exercise, loads of those ahead.

Crysis 2 , 3/22/11

This is one of the projects I've been working on while at Crytek in 2009-2010. I like the direction this game took and it's great to see how hard work of fellow Crytek'ers coming together. Great job guys!

Dark Riders

I attempted yet another exercise to load some realistic/cinematic lighting into the scene, play with textures and paint and close down with final image in less than 6-7 hrs.. almost. I think this one took maybe 7-8, where major chunk was just tinkering with proper adjustments and nailing down the spot-light-alike look.

On a side note, I've notice the more I try to blend phototextures in, the more I learn about weaknesses of my current brushes, since I really want to see brushstrokes bleeding into textures seamlessly. Tons of work ahead in that matter and I can't wait to see what's next to discover!

My newest dragon doodling. I think it took around ~5hrs to complete with maximum focus on realizm in colors, values and shapes. I decided not to waste time on painting details and used phototextures instead (mixed with custom brush work, as usual).

Inspiration? First it was by watching How to train your dragon (wait, what?!), then Spartacus TV show, then Two Steps from Hell - Invincible on headphones. Fun fun fun.
